So, today Ireland has voted "Yes" for same-sex couples to be allowed to marry.
The difference between this vote and all other countries that have passed same-sex marriage laws, is that this time the vote went straight to the people and not just passed in parliament.

This outcome has been great news as far as I'm concerned as it shows that most people are in favour of gay marriage. Plus with Ireland being predominately Catholic, this outcome is quite a thing.

I've always loved Ireland and its people. Although I've never been there, I always wanted to visit it. This makes me love the country even more. Congratulations!

I'm really curious as to how this will impact and influence other countries on SSM. The SCOTUS will definitely be looking at this before they issue their ruling next month. Perhaps it will put even more pressure on Tony Abbot in Australia to allow a conscience vote in parliament. It will definitely speed up the pace for all remaining developed countries in Europe that still haven't legalized it.

    All in all, GREAT NEWS!

If our son of a bitch Prime Minister would just fuck off and get out of parliament and let someone more suited for the job take his place maybe we wouldn't have to hope this Ireland vote on gay Marriage would change/pressure Tony Abbott into rethinking ways to legalise gay marriage in Australia. His own sister is a Lesbian for fuck sake.

Congratulations Ireland....hopefully the next step in constitutional reform there will be recognition of women's reproductive rights. Don't leave any more women to die in agony because they lack access to safe pregnancy termination.
