Was this November 2013 or November 2015 when this will take effect?

Honestly? Not too surprised, here. As demonstrated in 2 posts above mine, they do have a neutral pronoun.

Time for marriage now, sweethearts. They're ridiculously behind in that arena.

That cheers me up from arguing with victim blaming rape apologists.

Hmmm... Have you ever wondered why this country is so full of trees?

Well, they use a lot of paper, you know. Everytime you breathe, you need to fill a form and include your God's permission.

Guys, you can't just go to the forest, hunt a rabit and eat it without permission. Not here.

It's not about how germans think, his degree of tolerance, it's all about the trees and the gazillion bureaus full of bureaucretins...

Back to the topic, it's progress, a step forward, so... Yup, me likes...

Why is gender even on a birth certificate in the first place? They should have "sex," which is an easily identifiable physical characteristic at birth (penis or vagina), like height and weight. Or "biological sex" in which XX or XY (or XXY etc) would suffice in a recognizable physical attribute. Why do they even have gender? In our modern definition, gender couldn't be measured in a newborn because it's a mental characteristic. Why would they even report it? And why is there even a choice? Are they saying prents can "choose" the "gender" of their child by even giving the option of male or female? Can I say my XY child has a female gender? I don't even think a mental characteristic of a baby is possible to measure so it's quite absurd they would in the first place? .

However, I'm going to assume that what they meant by gender was sex... In which case they should simply change it to the correct word instead...

nope we don't.The only neutral prounouns are "it" (and most people find such a pronoun inhuman) and "xier" which is made up not known at all and i only saw it on two places in the internet if you'd ask people on the street they wouldn't know it.So if anyone would ask to be called that...well...it wouldn't stick.

Second i'd like to point out that people here picture a guy with a beard in a dress when talking about a "third gender" the term "non binary" is mostly unheard of.Therefore this certificate is only for people born intersex. The purpose also isn't to give the opportunity to count as a third gender but merely to let the children decide for themselves which gender they want to live as (due to cases with gender surgerys on a baby that turned out to be the wrong way)

That said...this isn't really a progress for anyone identifying as a "third gender" it is however a great step for intersexuals.

I agree, that makes a lot more sense than putting gender
