Banned ketchup? But the Reagan-era USDA felt it was a fine vegetable.

    "GOP hates lots of people."

Actually, let's make this easy. Unless you are either/or A) rich B) a fundamentalist, the GOP hates you, and would be just as happy if you dropped dead.

What a stupid law. They don't need no government to tell them what's acceptable to buy and what's not. And besides, why only poor people? Don't they already have it hard enough?

Obvious encroachment of personal rights is obvious. This is New York's slurpee ban all over again.

This is a trend in quite a few states; finding new ways to demonize the poor, and make their lives moor miserable. Kansas and other places have similar measures.

And this is the legacy of Ronald Reagan, the president who set into motion the current rhetoric against the poor, and seemed to harbor such a deep hatred towards them, using it to score political points, and start the persecuted rich, white male syndrome we have today.

◾Cranberry sauce and pie filling. (Poor people can forget about making dessert for Thanksgiving dinner.)
◾Creamed vegetables Don't get it but in my opinion they are doing the children a favor
    ◾Baked
    ◾Pickles
    ◾Pork and beans
◾Frozen veggies that come in packages featuring pasta, nuts, rice, cheese, or meats
    ◾French fries and hash browns
◾Sharp cheddar cheese, Swiss, and fresh mozzarella, shredded and sliced cheeses (except American cheese of course), cheese food, spreads, and products. Even Kosher cheese is banned unless you apply to get a specific check for it which basically could identify who the poor Jewish people are.
    ◾Canned peas and green beans
◾Albacore tuna, red salmon, and fish fillets
    ◾Bagels, pita bread, English muffins
    ◾White rice and wild rice
    ◾Taco shells
◾Almond, rice, goat, and soy milk.
◾Brown eggs and any eggs produced by cage-free or free range chickens, which basically helps corporate chicken farms
    ◾Several kinds of infant food
    ◾Anything in bulk
    ◾Anything organic or natural
out of the entire list, the only thing I agree with is the lobster,
Other than that, they get x number of dollars a month, when its gone they wait till the next month to get more money.
I have however seen them using their cards to get cash to play at the Maryland lottery, and that is wrong.
That money is not meant for them to live a life of fun, its meant to hold them over until they can find work to support themselves. It was never meant as a career choice.

Now as far as the ones in Maryland losing their cards because of the protest, its not because of the protest, its the ones that decided to throw bricks at the Police, or to stab the fire hoses or to destroy the stores and loot them. These are the people that would be targeted. Not the ones simply expressing their rights to protest in a peaceful manner. Unfortunately, the news isn't going to show the majority that were peaceful, much better ratings to be had by focusing only on those that decided to act like idiots and destroy.

I agree that that food stamps should not be used for fun stuff and how is that even allowed. Also there are people on disability who absolutely cannot work and they rely on a lifelong supply of food stamps. it is sad and it is hard way life but most the time it is not by choice so we should punish people for having to be on them. I been on them i know first hand how easy it is to run out of them but at the same time if your responsible and carefully pricing everything you will save a bunch of money.

I use to be on food stamps. My only luxury was to buy a lobster roll once a month at the supermarket made from dead lobsters in the tank. They were very inexpensive (imagine that).

You would deny a poor man a lobster that was going to be thrown out?

Kind of off topic but based on Scott Walker's healthy lead in the polls now he could be ultimate nominee and yep I think he could lose to Clinton

The funny thing about food stamps is, you get a set amount of money for that month, it isn't unlimited funds. So if you want to buy expensive stuff, eat well for three days... then starve the rest of the month, that's on you.

It isn't easy to get on food stamps, at least not as easy as many opponents claim. But what really amuses me is, some folks act like food stamps buy ANYTHING -- even non-food. I can tell you, being on food stamps myself, I cannot buy a handbag, a car, or a haircut with them. You're also limited to specific areas, meaning, you can't buy fast food with your food stamps, at least around here. So, again, there are limitations.

Mitt Romney was very clear that if you're poor, queer, or female, he doesn't care for you at all.

What people are forgetting a decent amount of people on public assistance do work but don't make enough.

Adding restrictions to food stamps is a huge waste of time that could be used else where
