I'm sure he'll get denser and more senile than he already demonstrated himself to be at the last election's debates AND increasingly less handsome than he used to be about 10+ years ago, so "no" and "no" ...

Why are American presidential candidates so old? Do Americans really want to elect a president that might be dead in 5 years?

Those new glasses aren't going to fool anyone.

He looks like some alcoholic uncle you have who went to rehab and says he cleaned up, but that you know secretly hits the bottle. Or at least that's the image he conjures up, in my mind, in some symbolic sense.

It is -- which is why I'm laughing.

I'm so happy that Rick Perry decided to join. Him and Rick Santorum make me feel soooo much better about myself. I can have the worst fucking day, and seeing either of them on television or a news feed, jump starts my mood!

Don't you worry, I'll get right on that in about 7 years, when I turn 35.

Not only shall I be the youngest elected, I'll be the first transwoman. Fuck traditional values, I'm bustin' the damn cultural door wide open~!

    LOL! <3

first they have to be 35 years old to run.
next is that they should have experience to some degree. maybe as a mayor, then governor, congress, senate etc... evidently experience or education is no longer an issue (think of the current one in the white house)
Wanted is someone with a good understanding of the economy, and a good grasp on international affairs.

by the time someone gains this experience and knowledge, they are older.

Does that mean they have to be a geriatric in order to be elected? You don't need to be knocking on death's doorstep in order to have experience.

We need to make this happen.

He's 65. I wouldn't consider that old at all. He's got years and years ahead of him.

So being a graduate of Columbia and Harvard Law doesn't count as education anymore?

The clown car continues to deliver

Hopefully he'll make another stupid ad that ruins his campaign (and yet reveals his true colors).

Rick Perry is a no go, but I enjoy watching these people campaign, like Lyndon Larouch, no chance of getting any votes from people not directly related to him or suffering serious drug addictions, but its fun to watch him keep trying.

65 isn't really that old. And it's not really the case that we only have older presidents. Clinton, W Bush and Obama were 46, 54 and 47 for their first inaugurals. Reagan and Bush I were both in their 60s, but before that you'd need to go to Eisenhower for the last elected president in his 60s. Ford was in his 60s when Nixon stepped down.

I think this has more to do with generational politics than any thing else. We've had 3 baby boomer presidents now, and they have each served 2 terms. The younger tier of candidates hasn't quite broken through yet, especially with that demographic bulge that favors candidates of their own generation.

I want him to talk more about how my sexuality relates to alcoholism addiction. Such a stupid piece of shit i remember him airing a anti gay marriage ad throwing a football basically implying all gay men of not being manly.

Or think of his predecessor when thinking of lack of experience.

According to Wikipedia, Obama was a state senator 1/97-11/04, and US Senate 1/05-11/08. Bush was only governor 1/95-12/00. Bush had fewer years of experience, and had no national experience I can see.

Obama also has better education--a J.D. vs. a MBA.

The only advantage I can see to Bush was that he was governor, which gave "executive branch" experience.

The "experience" issue was one, as I recall, Republicans loved to bring up during the 2008 election. It is worth noting that during that same election they thought Sarah Palin was ideally qualified to be Vice President, what with her overwhelming elected history of less than 2 years of Alaska governor (at the time of the election). Oh, yes, she was also mayor of the booming metropolis of Wasilla (population: <8,000). Just the person you need in a high profile government position, and who'll be one heartbeat away from the top elected job in the US.
