A bunch of the Democratic clerks are not listening to what he had to say, thankfully.

    I was wondering.

The AG sounds like he's throwing quite the temper tantrum...looks like he wants to have another law like the one in NC. Still, it won't stop same-sex marriage.

I'm awaiting similar reactions in some other states...

I guess he doesn't get the separation of church and state. The state can't deny something official just because an individual in an administrative/clerical position doesn't like something. Now, a random church can refuse to perform such a ceremony, or impose additional requirements. For example, Catholic churches typically require a certain amount of premarital faith-based counseling, and a commitment to bring kids up in the church if they are to perform the ceremony.

I love how that now that the right wing republican religious loonies are losing on the merits... they're falling back on the "Well, my beliefs say I shouldn't have to do this" argument. The difference is, some dumbasses are buying it.

Back in the 1950s, Jerry Falwell was quoting Scripture to justify discrimination against black people. Yet I don't remember reading anything in history about the religious crazies arguing that their religious freedom was being violated when they were asked to treat black people equally.

Obviously it's a bullshit argument. They pass these laws "protecting religion" and then get mad when people assert the rights granted by those laws to practice Satanism or witchcraft or whatever ("non-sanctioned") religious practice. But this viewpoint is essentially all that still stands. They don't have anything else left to stand on. It's kind of sad, how ignorant and bigoted and small-minded and hateful these people are.

Next will come the nullification arguments, which have been rejected by the courts since 1790. They've lost, the clock shows all zeroes, it's over. Get over it.

This is like the end of a very long war, as the main forces are defeated by one side or another, the few scattered groups of soldiers still attempt to fight the last battles, yet they are completely futile attempts.
