Louisiana governor, 'Bobby' Jindal:soapbox: has suggested doing away with the U.S. Supreme Court in the aftermath of their historic ruling on same-sex marriage.
    Bobby Jindal: 'Let
Does this sound like a sane, rational suggestion to ANYBODY!?

The dissenting judges had scarcely a legal reason for their decisions. It disgusts me that people like Jindal dare to call it a move based on mere popularity rather than legally reasoned. It's both dishonest and rejects public opinion when it's worthwhile.

Bobby Jindal has a lower approval rating in Louisiana that Barack Obama does. I wouldn't worry about him. He's getting his ass booted next election, and he ain't becoming president.

Bobby Jindal can't even fix that hairline of his; if he can't face a comb, he's not getting my vote.

I read that at one point he supported common core, but since his desired to be a crotchety-old, white man (his party was against the CC) trumped his reasoning, he dumped that in a hurry. He also follows the standard GOP anti-gay rhetoric, along with...pretty much everything else they believe in.

Case and Point, several other GOP members have said to do away with the SCOTUS because of the ruling (many well before the announcement), so Bobby repeats them like a good parrot. Hopefully when this man is shown the door (and his ass is shown the boot), he'll be replaced with someone who will make Louisiana less of a joke.

....hmmm, I retract what I said in the "Jindal is running" thread. He's gained some "batshit crazy" points.

These right-wing nuts are the biggest sore losers i've ever seen. They'll applaud the court all day long as long as it rules in their favor, but if they disagree with the decision all of a sudden everyones crying about "judicial activism" and calling for the court to be removed.

Wait...this means we can definitely get rid of Scalia, right away! He's long been prone to outbursts, a foul-mouth and being generally ill-tempered.

The extreme right-wing religious fundies have been saying for years that Congress should just remove the four liberal justices based on the behavior clause so that they can overturn Roe V. Wade.

Curious, I didn't know that. But of the whole bunch, Scalia seems like the one who most prone to temper-tantrums; even Thomas just seems to sit there, and scowl, barely uttering a word. How I would love to see those two go...

To do so would be unconstitutional, as it is set up in the constitution, and would upset the balance of powers within the federal government. The supreme court exists so that laws or edicts which are passed by the executive or legislative bodies, and are believed to be unconstitutional, may be examined so that it can be determined as to whether or not these laws or edicts follow those set forth at the founding of the nation and the amendments to such and, if found to be unconstitutional, be stricken down.

To remove the Supreme Court is to allow those in power to ignore the Constitution and its amendments.

To quote the article '“Marriage between a man and a woman was established by God, and no earthly court can alter that,” he added.'

This is just another prime example of Conservative crazy. There are hundreds of thousands of american people that don't believe in your god. What he is saying is that All Atheists, Agnostics, Buddhists,Hindus,Pagans, and followers of other alternative religion are to confine to his religion. Its thought processes like this that caused the millions of deaths resulting from the christianization of foreign lands, i.e. killing those who were different. By defining marriage to something that a divine being said would imply you have heard these very words or you just follow something written thousands of years ago, by people you have never met, or knew anything about.

To describe marriage like that is not only hurtful to all of the LGBT+ people who live in the states, but also complete horseshit. No other way to put it. Not everyone worships your god, so why does everyone have to obey by his rules. Thats like calling traveling at a football game, it doesn't make any sense and will be laughed at.

The earthly court he described is actually made up of mostly christians, which means that enough people in his religion care enough about folks like us to give us the same rights the majority has. I am 100% sure if he was alive at the time slavery was abolished, he would use the same argument. Slavery is wrong because it discriminated those who were different and hurt them in a serious way. Denying the LGBT community those rights is no different. Claiming superiority over a minority is a present feature in american history, and something just continued by this moron. If your god is a god of love and equality like you claim, then stop being a hypocrite. Do the country a favor and just keep your mouth shut.

To move on to the fact that he is asking to disband the Supreme Court is liking asking a tent to give up its stakes. Yes, the tent may be able to stand, but something big comes up and the whole thing is gone. And, as Byron stated, it is unconstitutional. It goes against the very thing that Jindal and his peers constantly refer to. What if we just did away with freedom of speech? What about prohibition on alcohol again? What if we shut down freedom of peaceful protest?

Chaos. Pure and raw. That is what this man is asking for. Granted his probably just trying to hide the fact that he sucked a few dicks to get to were his is today.
