Well that's not something I expected! I thought Germany or Australia would be next.

This only making relationships no longer be illegal.
This is already the case in Germany and Australia.
    You're thinking about SSM.

Seriously, if countries aren't going to legalize same-sex marriage, this is the LEAST they can do.

But yay! On a more positive note lol.

Wow, that's amazing news! :icon_bigg It's a step in the right direction!

I hope that these rights activists are speaking the truth and that more countries will follow. I think more people will be accepting of LGBT issues over time. =)

I bet it's because America legalised gay marrige everywhere,so I guess alot of countries are going to follow in it's wake.

They actually decriminalized it quite a while ago. I think it didn't take effect until recently. Regardless, progress nonetheless.

Not everything is a result of the US. Like, the rest of the world isn't an attachment to America.

This is great news, but I would like to remind everyone that Mozambique has a law by which rape is legal if the rapist forces their victim to marry them. They still have a long way to go with human rights.

Is that law enforced? It reads:

In a post of March the 28th of 2014 on the same site, it reads:

It seems it's not enforced/has not been enforced. Please correct me if I'm wrong on this, I didn't know about this Mozambican law but I noticed that article that seems to contradict what you've said.

allAfrica.com: Mozambique: Offensive Articles Removed From New Draft of Penal Code

So it has, Quem. Sorry that I'm not up to date; I remembered that law and didn't keep up with its failure, which must have caused less of a splash.

However, my point still stands. Mozambique's human rights record is appalling, especially since the instability starting in 2012 and we need to keep that in mind. While it is improving and steps like these are enormously encouraging, we're far from being able to say that Mozambique is a good state. Riddled with corruption that sucks the life out of public services, destroys justice and weakens democracy, this is just a small drop of the change that Mozambique needs.

Nonetheless, I'm not trying to detract from how good this is. I just fear that people might inaccurately feel that Mozambique is more of a healthy liberal state than it truly is.

I agree Mozambique has a ways to go, but this is a step in the right direction for a neglected, impoverished nation.

1% of Mozambique's corruption fixed. 99% to go!
