  2. Fuck that shit. Seriously. It's one thing to stop gay marriages, which they did, but trying to ruin the lives of people who evaded it is seriously ludicrous. The should not, by The Constitution, be able to do such a thing.

Isn't there something in the Constitution about ex post facto laws?

The movement against LGB rights has again shown itself to be without heart, mercy, reason, or soul. "Why must our fight be the pawn of a larger culture war?" is but a precursor to the larger question: "Why must we fight simply to exist as who we are?" We are fighting the irrational, the illogical, ... ignorance itself.

This is our fight - gays, lesbians, bisexuals, allies, and others, put on the coffee. This could last a while.

You realize that banning gay marriage also violates the bill of rights, right? Proponents of prop 8 don't care about the freakin constitution. -.-

The word "tolerant" makes it seem like we're doing something wrong....How about they just stop being bigoted pricks? :tantrum:

I really wish this would be a wake-up call to on-the-fence voters. They are trying to annul marriages that have already been done in flagrant violation of the Constitution's explicit rejection of ex post facto laws (not to mention basic human decency). It's not just incredibly mean-spirited but also against the Constitution.

Can these groups claim that their platform isn't based on hate anymore? I think most definitely not after this, if ever.

I'm glad they filed motion. It clearly violates ex post facto and any judge worth his salt would not allow the motion. Every court ruling we get in our favor the stronger our case becomes.

I think the passage of Prop 8 will be viewed with great historical irony. They can't win. They struck us down, but we become more powerful than they could imagine.

  15. Bullshit. Ex post facto laws, as mentioned above. They can't take away perfectly legally standing marriages from ANYONE, regardless of later laws against them. Key words: perfectly legally standing.

I have to admit, when I read this story online, I shouted out "YES!" and did my best gay 'HAAYYYYYY!!' hand sign in the air! I thought the filing of this motion to nullify the thousands of existing marriages, thereby forcibly divorcing people, was GREAT and amAYYZING news to hear!! I'll pause to let y'all's mouths hang open and say "WHAT?! How can he say this??????"

    ................................. lol!

Look, just like the passage of Prop 8, this sucks. It sucks for the individuals this will impact, and it sucks for us all in the gay community. But the more these MORONS do, the more desperate they obviously become, then the more mobilized we will be to stand up and fight for equality. Not only that, but the chances increase that more people will stand up with us as they begin to see that this is all just wrong.

Besides, this latest move has defined their true, hateful motives like nothing else so far.

It just may backfire on them....

I agree with Sean, as disgusting and horrible as it is, this could potentially benefit us and backfire on them bigtime.
