In Texas, you can be arrested for something like that. But she was arrested because the officer claimed she was a physical threat. The problems started after he told her to stop smoking, even though she was in her car and had every right to smoke in it. It's the usual case of the cop's inflated ego. A cop has no right to threaten someone with a taser because they're smoking. Tasers are for belligerent people.

Really, there wasn't a single thing done right at the traffic stop.

The guy tailgated her, so she switched lanes to let him pass, didn't signal (So you already know he was trying to force trouble), he pulled her over, violated his rights and hers, arrested her under no charges, made up a charge, abused her, laughed that he had no real injuries, and now she's dead.

He currently has a desk job.

I've been following this story for a while...and I've come across some seriously messed-up controversies and ideas concerning her death and her mugshot. It's all really sad and it worries me greatly :frowning2:

There is really nothing to say at this point. Anyone who keeps up with any form of news outlet knows that these deaths occur every couple of days. You eventually grow tired of faking feeling shocked.

Could someone clear me up on this? I read the article and I'm a bit confused. Obviously she shouldn't have been in jail for not putting on a turn signal, but what's the huge outrage about? Are they not sure if she committed suicide or was murdered? Or is it over the stupidity of being sent to jail for something that benign?

The investigations reveal that she committed suicide; the circumstances of her death were found to be consistent with suicide.

    The outrage is:

    1) Her loved ones were skeptical of the suicide claim and alleged that she may have been murdered. Although, as I said above, there's no evidence of murder, and there do seem to be claims that she attempted suicide before.
    2) She wouldn't have committed suicide if she hadn't been arrested.
    3) She shouldn't have been arrested; the cop was abusing his power.

The problem with #2 is that it is exceedingly difficult to place blame on someone or something for a person's suicide.
