LGBT News Petition To Allow Transgender People To Self-Define Their Gender

Hey all, the government recently made a system where British citizens are able to petition important issues, at 10k they're issued a statement and at 100k they're considered for debate in the house of commons.

For a while now to change ones birth certificate you either had to be relocated by the police or go through the VERY broken GRC system. While this petition is titled with transgender people in mind fixing the GRC system would allow intersex people to also benefit as currently if you were assigned the wrong sex at birth (purely because of external genitalia) and later in life it turns out hey, you have female/male internal organs that conflict with the 'assigned sex' the ONLY way to fix the mistake on your birth certificate is to pretend to be transgender, literal fraud and disingenuous to intersex and trans people. This isn't even taking into account the hundreds of pounds it costs to get to the point where they will even consider you for a GRC.

Please sign if you're a UK resident or at the least get your UK friends to sign, I'm a cisgender girl with an intersex condition and my girlfriend is transgender, so this matters, as a right, to both of us as well as a whole host of our friends. The new system proposed would allow you to simply write off to the government, telling them your gender identity and any changes required and then boom, you have a new birth certificate and you can finally get on with your life.
