Story here: ‘Pro-gay’ Republican group might not endorse US Equality Act · PinkNews

Currently the Equality Act has zero Republican co-sponsors, so it is unlikely it would be able to pass through both chambers of congress unless pressure is put onto Republicans to support this bill, or if Democrats win back either one or both chambers in 2016.

If the price of their and Republican support is a broad religious exemption then they can take a hike. No matter which way you look at it, a religious exemption is just asking for trouble.

I agree 100%. The only logical reason that I can see there being any opposition at all is the desire to add religious exemptions. However, we will not support anything that includes religious exemptions.

It's also important to remember that non-discrimination laws are much more widely popular than even gay marriage. Most people already believe that we are protected by non-discrimination laws.

Religion absolutely can't be exempted. It has to be directly attacked, otherwise there will be no protections. The whole motherfucking point of a religious exemption is to destroy the protections.

I had no idea this group was still around. I always thought it was one of the dumbest things ever, reminding me of other hypothetical groups, like, "Blacks for the KKK', and "Jews for Hitler".

I exaggerate, but I can't take these folks at all seriously. They are wart of the ass of humanity and common decency.

"We Christians have the right to do whatever we want, push around whoever we want, and even the very law of this nation bends to our will. Why? We're simply superior to you. Our book says so"

My book says I can wield fireballs in the palm of my hand, and throw them at my foes. Does that make it true or realistic? Absolutely not. You can't prove Hogwarts doesn't exist.
I don't see ant-broom flying laws or anything. Separation of church and state, please.

Wait, the Log Cabin Republicans actually exist? I thought that was just a made up Republican party from American Dad.
