It would be even hire if states where Republicans hold power hadn't blocked the Medicaid expansion.

It's great! I remember how upset I was when people were arguing about this-I couldn't even keep up with current events at the time. Health care is a right. I'm glad most people now have it.

Wonderful. With any luck, seeking to make it actually universal will come in time.

This map doesn't surprise me. Showing up in orange (federal only) are the south, the central states, and Utah. Wisconsin has Scott Walker. Alaska is Palin land. I don't know what the situation is in Maine. As for dark blue and light blue, it make sense. It's how all sorts of social programs map out time and time again.

Overall, the numbers are encouraging and, to all those who thought this change in policy meant doomsday, they were proven wrong based on how things are moving along in the economy ... at the moment. I think it's a huge stride forward and I hope the naysayers will always be wrong because this was the right thing to do to help those who slipped through the system's cracks. The other thing is that most people just want medical care available to them. Nobody likes going to the doctor or any kind of health professional for fun because it's not.

While its good some coverage is now occuring I hope the United States moves toward a universal government plan soon. There is no reason why someone should be forced to provide a private corporation a profit.

    That my opinion anyway.

This is really good news, but I'd also like to see the US move more towards a Universal or Single Payer system. We're still behind the much of the world when it comes to that, and I think that we have the capability to make Universal Healthcare work, even if it would take some getting used to. Quality of care should be the only concern someone has when they have to go and get treatment, not being concerned over if they'll be able to afford the procedure.

In Canada, we have single-payer and universal health care, from this US NIH overview of 38 studies comparing our health outcomes, the following was found:

So overall, generally equivalent or better outcomes, but costing about 14.3% less (due to the much lower paper-pushing administrative costs):

I kinda call BS on this one. Even though it's completely anecdotal, I know a lot of people without health insurance. I agree though that we should just do single payer. The thing that bugs me is that people like to use Fear mongering to make it sound like people wait for 5 hours to get treated in the hospital when you're dying...

I'm aghast at how Scott Walker became the governor of the fairly liberal state of Wisconsin. Of the Republicans, he has been among the most vocal against the ACA, as indicated here:

Walker: Where is vote to repeal ObamaCare?

Some interesting things came up in reading Walker's bio and I don't think he has a good chance of getting the GOP nomination. The extreme Tea Party types and the extreme religious zealot types (sometimes one and the same) are what we do NOT need in 2016 and the GOP ranks seem populated with them. Then there's the blabbermouth whose entertainment value is plummeting quickly.

I remember looking at an OECD document suggesting that the United States spends almost double per capita on healthcare. If I find some time ill dig it up. But if true the argument that it would cost more to provide health for all would be absurd.

And really a publicly run system should always be cheaper. There is no need for a profit. The only reason why it may be more expensive is if you have poor managers.

The American corporatocracy disagrees with the latter part. It's why I'm against Obamacare: not because "it's socialist" but because it further solidifies the power of the insurance companies, who are not our friends. I'd prefer a system with no private-sector middleman as well. Just because 90% are covered doesn't mean they're all saving money on healthcare. Are most? If so, I can grudgingly accept it. But "having insurance" is not a solution to anything by itself.
