I just thought I should share this as Illinois has become the 4th state in the US to ban conversion therapy on minors. I hope more states can follow through with this.

I've seen this all over my facebook feed! I must say, I have a little more faith in Rauner now, but I'm still wary.

This is a step forward, but we need to see this banned as a treatment for people of all ages. For example, it appears that it would still be legal for a LGBT person with disabilities who is under adult guardianship to be forced into conversion therapy.

It's great news, but some conversion therapy for minors that happened to a former GF of mine was done by people who aren't licensed therapists anyway. Plus, is there anything stopping parents from sending their children out of state for it?

I hope some people go to jail for this.

Yes! Good riddance to such a terrible practice. I hope it becomes nation wide

I have to agree with sldanlm. This is really just a tiny hiccup for anyone trying to change their child's sexuality or gender identity. Anyone who wanted to could go out of state or even out of the country if such a thing is passed nationwide. Unless some sort of charges are placed for attempting to seek "help" where it is legal. But at this point the chances of something like this happening are slim to none.

Thankfully another state has joined the bandwagon but this bandwagon needs to speed up. Also, this is because more than half the people in the state live in and around Chicago, and which makes it more blue than red.

More states need to adopt this, I'm glad my state has the same law.
