Multiple outlets are reporting that when the Westbro Baptist Church turned up to protest the recent crowning of a transgender homecoming queen at a school in Kansas City, they were confronted by a huge student counter-march and were subsequently "driven out of town".

Huh, a Honda minivan. A bit frumpy, though I was hoping for something a bit more old and beat up! But in time, I'm sure that'll happen. Hard to believe they're still at it, and now having to face increasingly different circumstances

YES! That fucking church can catch on fire for all I care. Hateful scums. I'm so happy these students are accepting, loving, and protecting of their homecoming queen- my high school would have bullied the poor girl until she would be forced to leave. Kudos to Oak Park High School. You guys rock!

Why does the news keep covering Westboro? They're not worth the time and energy.

^I dunno, personally if the wbc's existence leads to more stories like this I'd be happy for them to keep being the whack ass stooges they are, trolling around in their clown car.

Those students sound awesome. It is a shame that some people are so hateful.

At first, I was like "And I thought we heard the last of WBC.."

And then I read it. And it was worth it.

It's hard to even convey how wonderfully powerful the video and actions are of the children, simply marvelous and a bright light in the darkness of us struggling to cope with the prejudices to which they stood up against. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:ride:

Well, people will soon realized that, to those children, their friend is more important than some belief held millennia ago.

With so much negative press always given to teenagers about bullying, this group of students, and the community as a whole NEEDS to be given special recognition. If there is not already an award, one needs to be come up with for this sort of situation. Something from the President or the Human Rights Campaign or something-I want to see this community honored and held up as an example. I think it's that important. Maybe a special class trip? Something needs to be done. Any ideas?
