It has been less than two weeks since the shooting a Oregon and now two other shootings shave occurred recently.

One of the shootings took place at Northern Arizona University where there was one death and three injured. The other took place at Texas Southern University one dead and another one hurt.

TSU Campus lockdown lifted following deadly shooting at Texas Southern University | abc13.com

Jeez... that's three school shootings in less than two weeks. My hearts go out to the people that were killed and injured and their families. I strongly believe in gun regulation even more after this. I hope things get better...

So...is this like, a trend going on over there? People shooting others for no apparent reasons? Or are they reporting armed robbery and such as shooting?

Doesn't mean that it should be taken any less lightly and guns are free from guilt for being tools of violence, though. Just wondering if the media is just trying to make a trend when there is none.

I was talking to a friend about this yesterday and he said he wasn't even shocked that it happened. I think what he meant was that he's heard so many news stories about school shootings that he's kind of used to it.
I don't know if I feel he same though, I'm still shocked every time I hear about a shooting anywhere, but especially a school.

I'm thinking of all the people affected by the shootings and can only imagine what they're feeling right now

If only there had been more guns

It's so numbing. And we still won't do jack about it cause we are ruled by nutjobs and paranoids.

The thing I hate about this that it's just going to give people more reasons to hate guns.

This is seriously starting to terrify me. Fucking United States man. I don't wanna go to school knowing somebody could pull out a gun.

What particular regulation would've prevented this? It was already illegal for the shooters to possess handguns.

    I suppose that's one take.

The thing I hate about it is the innocent people murdered.

    De gustibus, I suppose.

Yes, this is the bizarro world we now live in. One in which The Onion is basically just another news source (the most honest one at that). Stop ruining my satires America! It used to be funny, but now it's just sad and scary how accurately they mirror reality.

I think it's the fact that they're happening at a college. If the same thing had happened in Phoenix or Houston it would probably just be local news. The level of violence of all types in Chicago is appalling. but it rarely makes the national news.

You live in a country that has 112.6 guns per capita (that's 112.6 privately owned firearms for every american citizen), a few regulations won't make that ridiculous surplus of guns go away or stop existing. For said regulations to have any effect you've got to start confiscating some of those guns. No way around that. There are too many fucking guns out there.

That, and the moment you drop the words "collect" or "confiscate" in the same sentence as "guns", well, it's the moment our ol' gran'pappy was talkin' 'bout!

The South shall rise again, YEE-HAW~!

Arizona has been one of the most open and friendly states when it comes to unfettered gun rights. You can carry concealed there without needing a permit. I'm not clear on whether this campus restricted carrying a gun. If they didn't I wonder why this guy was keeping it in his car. Obviously there are a lot more facts that we don't know about but if these guys did attack him while he was packing and then he shot them he would have a better defense. It was the returning from his car once he was out of danger to shoot his attackers. That made it murder.

"War is hell" said some guy who knew a thing or two about it. "Bring it on" say a bunch of people who don't know squat.

Btw, that stat on gun ownership is wrong. We are completely awash in guns but there aren't 112 per resident/citizen/adult/any measure. I think that's guns per 100 residents which works out to the number I recall of a bit over 1 per person. so, like 12% more. And that's over 1 per person if we issued one at birth.

Easy access to guns isn't any part of the problem though

You are correct. My mistake, that's 112.6 guns for every 100 american citizens. My point still stands. Having more guns than people [to actually kill with them] is insane.

Hating weapons designed for the sole purpose of killing is a bad thing?

I'm getting numb to stories like this, and that's pretty sad. I'm afraid some kid is going to snap and shoot up the schools my little sister and cousins go to.

But clearly we need more guns. Obviously.
