He is doing a great job - I am REALLY interested in how his poll numbers turn out after this.

Everyone says how much they love him, but he's always way behind HRC. It'll be something to watch!

For a second, I thought you were talking about Human Rights Campaign, and I was confused because they seem to both be on the same page.

As for watching the debate, I may or may not get to it. I have an assignment that's about halfway done and is due tomorrow.

Watching so far, the debate hasn't changed my support, though I'm still dedicated to voting for whoever the Democratic nominee is.

On a more positive note, here's one of the most honest political ads ever made:

If Bernie Sanders wins the nomination, I'll vote for him. If anybody else wins, I'm voting for the democratic socialist party candidate.

Bernie is the only candidate (that has a chance) that has gained my support. He was killing it out there in the debate. #FeelTheBern

I'm also liking Bernie more and more.

There's a lot of Saunders signs on our block, and maybe just one Clinton one. An no Republican ones, 'cause, well...it's Baltimore!

The funny thing I follow Fox News and other conservative media and I've heard little to nothing about Sanders on their websites. All they do is talk shit about hillary while letting Bernie's poll numbers rise.

I'm definitely a Sanders fan but also like Clinton and what I've heard from O'Malley.

Webb seems way too much of a conservative for me. I don't like what he said about guns and I don't like how he's pro coal and they keystone pipeline.

    What's everyone's P/VP match ups? I personally think Sanders/Clinton

    ---------- Post added 14th Oct 2015 at 12:32 AM ----------

Why do you follow Fox News?!

They talk shit about Hilary because they know she has a solid chance of winning and the republicans can't find an electable candidate so they need to make Clinton look so bad people vote for anyone but her.

Dammit! I was actually joking when I asked people to remind me not to miss it, but I actually did. The irony. I suppose I will have to watch it tomorrow.

I think Clinton is a worse campaigner than she would be as a president. Perhaps the opposite applies for Sanders. I don't mind Clinton's pragmatism and occasional obfuscation; nobody can promise perfection in office and I honestly think I'd rather Bernie's fiery tones be kept pure rather than have him face the realities of political compromise.

I am annoyed that she's come out against the TPP, though; the concerns she raises about American jobs (mind you, fairly uncompetitive ones which rely on the remnants of protectionism to stay alive) are simply vote-winners, not good trade or diplomatic policy (it's more than a little annoying for other countries to negotiate for years only for the biggest player in the talks to reject the proposal). There are plenty of areas of the TPP to be concerned about, but I don't think she's articulated that very well.

I'm also really annoyed that Sanders has his position on gun control. I think Clinton is weak enough, let alone Sanders. When he talks about mental health, he completely ignores that it's entirely compatible with strong gun restrictions to universalise that access to healthcare.

I haven't yet watched the debate in full. I'll have a better understanding once I do that.

And on a more trivial note, I've only read in print what Sanders says until now and I'm a bit surprised about how much he yells. It's a little unnerving.

I very strongly disagree on the TPP. The problem with these trade deals is that it makes it easy and legal for companies to outsource American jobs to third-world countries, because we can't compete with slave labor. That's not protectionism, that's common sense.

As someone from a state that got hit hard by NAFTA, most people here will tell you that "free trade" is anything but free. The instant NAFTA passed, the General Motors assembly instantly bolted from Hamtramck to Oshawa, Ontario, and their compact car assembly went straight to Mexico. It's understandable why the countries in the Pacific would be upset about the United States would reject the deal, but it's because Americans are the ones getting screwed in the end when their job has suddenly been outsourced to the Phillippines.

It's probably because if he did, then he might have to explain why Vermont, the state he represents, has the lowest per capita gun crime rate in the country, with the least state gun laws. Almost 75% of adults in Vermont own at least one gun, and they're not restricted to just guns traditionally used for hunting or target shooting. They do have enhanced penalties for gun related crimes.

I think that Sanders and Clinton both did pretty well, but I don't think there was a clear winner of the debate. O'Malley did better than I expected him to. Webb and Chafee will probably drop out after the next poll numbers come out. This didn't change who I'm voting for in the primary, but I'm still dedicated to vote for the Democratic nominee unless the DNC and Debbie Wasserman-Schultz start showing more implicit bias towards who they want to be the candidate than they already are. DWS uninviting Tulsi Gabbard (the DNC co-chair) from the debate for calling for more debates was absolutely sickening.

Also, did anyone else cringe whenever Hillary said "Obama and I were literally hunting down the Chinese in Copenhagen."? For some reason it made me and the entire watch party I was at cringe.

Watching this now. I feel bad for O'Malley & Chaffez(?), they seem too be reasonably competent candidates that have unfortunately run into a popular establishment candidate and a phenomenon, any other year they're front runners. Webb seems to be in the wrong party.

Up to gun control, Sanders coming out swinging.

In that scenario, he could just explain that Vermont is a largely rural state with a population less than San Francisco - so it stands to reason that crime in general is lower than it is in more densely populated areas. If you look at states and gun violence, and compare it to population density, there is a striking correlation.

I haven't watched it in full either, and when I got home was too tired. I did record it though, hope to catch up today. I've heard varying things from the pundits on the news about who they thought was supposedly the winner last night. The most amusing thing was Hillary was the clear winner, because she didn't make any major mistakes or gaffes. (?) So I guess in that reporters eyes this is the new standard in American politics
