In Cambodia, Some Families Still Try To 'Cure' LGBT Sons And Daughters

This is so sad and horrific. Again I must thank God that I am blessed with such a loving and accepting family, friends, and for the most part, community.
Also, I must apologize for taking so long to post this. I have been having computer difficulties and it was very hard to even make this post, as I am unable to copy and past the quotes so I had to type them all out, same with the url.

Hrmm. I ain't really surprised that a country in that region is homophobic. Is anyone really?

How disgusting and whatnot, but I have to know, was the title a nod to the dead kennedys' Holiday in Cambodia? Well played if so

This is so sad. It's really awful when you think that this stuff is happening to people like you because they happen to have been born in a different country.

The vast majority of people who are born and raised in developing countries do not get nearly as high as an education as people who are raised in developed countries. Therefore, they are sadly doomed to drown in ignorance and propaganda.

I have a lot of compassion for LGBT folks in Cambodia. Thanks for posting this. My husband is from a small village in the Philippines and the culture there is more accepting. When I visited my husbands family I didn't know what to expect but they were so warm and loving to us. Like anywhere else I think it depends were you go and who you are with. Cambodia has a beautiful culture in a
lot of ways. I would love to go there sometime.

This is so tragic. Burning people in an attempt to cure them? It sounds so medieval. I almost can't believe it's happening now.

You know, the sad thing here is... this is actually progress for Cambodia.

At one time, they had, quite possibly, the most backwards and oppressive regime under Pol Pot.

Nope, never heard of the band, I just made up the title because Homophobia kinda sounds like Cambodia.

This is actually true. :frowning2: I wish every country could stop discriminating against people, and organizing mass-killings for political enemies and all these bad things. :frowning2:
