I work at an insurance company and I received a memo yesterday at work that NY state will now recognize same sex marriages that are preformed outside NY state for insurance purposes. It also states that if a same sex couple applies for a policy all they need to do is provide a copy of their marriage license along with their application. This is big because the couple can be owners of their spouses policies. They are also entitled to the marriage couple discount. I hope other states follow!

I never saw the movie, but basically now same sex couples have all the rights when it comes to insurance law as heterosexual marriages in NY state. Too bad I don't sell insurance in NY.

Yeah! I get to be proud of my state! I thought that that was something NY already did though? I though they recnogized (just not performed) gay marriages?

In any case, whoo, one step closer!
