Neil Patrick Harris among Maxim Russia's list of celebrities 'forgiven' for being gay

How would you respond if someone told you that they 'forgave' you for being LGBT? It sounds conceited to me. I don't need to be forgiven for being who I am. I'm sure as hell not hurting anyone.

To be fair, the Maxim Article could have been a lot worse in a country were two-thirds of the country believe that homosexuality shouldn't be accepted by society (Russia)

I'd have a certain finger on each hand I'd like to introduce them to.

While this is still ridiculous and there's nothing to be forgiven, I try to look on the bright side of things. It could have been a list of celebrities they condemn to hell for being gay....

I love how they say Tyler is the ideal man just because he's sexy and has muscles when he's also basically a terrorist running an anarchist anti-capitalist cult.

I love Fight Club but seriously bro.

And I would forgive them for feeling like they had to forgive me. [Jesus' said to forgive people, so I will.]

Oh, I'd love to hear an explanation for this.

The USA, as Edward Snowden has shown, is far worse than Russia. This silly story which shouldn't even be news is just another way the USA is brainwashing people into hating Russia. As usual, Americans hate something they know nothing about.

What bearing does the actions of the US intelligence apparatus have on Russian state persecution against the LGBT community?

Firstly, Russia is arguably the least anti-gay country in Europe. Consider this: they're fighting ISIS, a terrorist group bent on exterminating lgbt people, whereas the USA has both funded and given a defensive shield to ISIS, protecting them from Russia. By destroying ISIS, they're protecting gays from people who want to kill them. Ergo, Russia is not homophobic.

True, Russia hasn't enacted gay marriage, and in some cases they do remove kids from gay parents, but that's nowhere near as bad as what ISIS has done. The anti-lgbt propaganda doesn't extend any further than blocking sites that endorse it from the Russian internet, and it doesn't lead to imprisonment, no matter what they say in documentaries that defame it. Most of the problems with homophobia have to do with individuals attacking gay men and have nothing to do with institutional discrimination.

Just because they're fighting a group that is homophobic doesn't mean Russia can't be homophobic as well. You and your enemy can SHARE enemies...
And considering that we have legalized gay marriage, while Russia doesn't even want gay people to show they're gay in public and wants to arrest gay adults for mentioning homosexuality around minors, I think the US is better with gay rights than Russia is.

I don't think everyone here realizes how fucked up being gay in Russia is. There's a fairly recent documentary on Netflix called Campaign of Hate: Russia and Gay Propaganda. Its really scary.

It never fails to amaze me how on the one hand Russia proclaims that gays are sick and then on the other they claim gays are sinners or morally corrupt. It's a bit like like telling an allergic person he is sick and then morally condemning him for not eating peanuts. Russia, you cannot have it both ways.

Hahaha. Yes, Russia is attacking Isis due to their commitment to human rights, specifically their commitment to the lgbt+ community. :roflmao:

Russia is a very homophobic society.
