This is cool. ^^ To me its always seemed like there would be more bisexual people, just based off of my own friends group.

I feel like a lot of men are afraid to admit they're bisexual. The only reason I found out my brother was bi was because he drunkenly confessed it to his friend while I was in earshot.

Went something along the lines of this:

"Hey dude... just wanted you to know, that I like guys too..."
    "Maaaan, that's okay."
    "So we're cool?"
    "Yeah."

Sober though? He denies any question about it thrown at him.

If sexuality is a spectrum it makes sense that there would be more bisexuals than anything else. Although if straight is 0 and gay is 100, and everything between say 20-80% is bi, then why are straight people somehow the vast majority when everything else combined is the minority? Maybe sexuality is not.a.spectrum, at least not in any mathematical sense. Maybe it is random

Alternatively, maybe there are MANY more bisexuals in the world like myself with such a slight, implicit attraction to the other sex that they misinterpret themselves as being gay, or straight. Or maybe heteronormativity is so oppressive and dominant in society that straight people merely APPEAR to be in the majority. If that's the case we're pretty dumb for dealing with their bullshit all this time when we could be taking over.

I told you so! They said I was crazy, that it would never happen!

Our world domination plan has been set in motion, and there's no stopping it. :icon_twis

Well I think that is another blow to those who say "LGBT are only 1%" or similar tosh like the below:

One in 66 Britons is gay or bisexual - NOT one in ten, as previously thought | Daily Mail Online

Only 1 in 100 Britons is gay despite myth but 71% say they are Christian | Daily Mail Online

Looking at that study some 8% of men or 18.9% of women (or 13.45% of people surveyed) are "not 100% straight".

And that's with homophobia still being strongly prevalent and undoubtedly influencing people's answering and honesty.

Or as Woody Allen put it: "Bisexuality automatically doubles your chances for a date on Saturday night."

Am I the only one who finds it odd that the "CDC" is reporting this. "DISEASE CONTROL". Maybe I'm freaking out over nothing.

I think that they are still paranoid with the whole gay/bi men = AIDS thing even though we know now that not only gay/bi men can get AIDS.

I'm more surprised by the 1.4% of people are LGBT stat. ~5-10% has always been the standard stat I've seen

    It's not paranoia, it's facts. I quote:

It would be irresponsible of the CDC to not give special attention to the gay/bisexual male demographic in regards to AIDS when we are the most prone to get it. No need to put scare quotes on Disease Control, that does not mean they are looking to quarantine HIV+ people nor anything of the like. They gather this data because it is their job to track the spread of the HIV virus in order to better tailor their efforts of combating it (be that through prevention or treatment), as well as keeping the public (us) informed of the current situation. In doing so, it is only natural that they will gather statistical knowledge on the orientation of Americans, given how disproportionate the spread of HIV is among sexual demographics.
