Shocking that Republicans are actually willing to help addicts take steps that could lead to harm reduction, better quality of life, and getting the help they need rather than simply telling them it's their own lack of willpower. God forbid some compassion should creep into the Republican platform.

Seriously, though... it's about damn time. The data on the success of needle exchange programs and even supervised injection sites is pretty unequivocal: it reduces harm and it also helps those struggling with addiction to have access to services that can help them. I'm glad to see there's at least some movement toward helping this population.
