Iceland just sworn in the first gay premier. http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/02/01/iceland.pm/index.html?eref=rss_topstories Congrats Iceland!
Wow, that is pretty awesome, but I think it has to do with more of the economic than social aspects of the country. Either way, it shows how gay people can still get far in life
The U.S. needs to take a look at other countries. How can we say we're "the land of the free",when it really isn't that way,for us all? I'm really hoping, with a new President, thing's will change here. Hopefully,"Yes We Can",means for EVERYBODY. Time will tell.
I saw this - yay! Although I think it had more to do with the previous person losing their post, I still think most of the world is a long way from even this!!! Gay and a woman - woo!
I'm a bit confused. Was she actually voted in by the public, or was she chosen by her party to run the country until the next election...a bit like Gordon Brown in the UK???
Ha that's hilarious. I suppose many people had their doubts about the iron lady, Maggie Thatcher. She was married and still is. She was the conservative party leader and first and only female prime minister. There would have been no way in hell a gay would have got to the top in the 70/80s. I guess you can say its a bit like how the USA view Hillary Clinton and her marriage to Bill.
finaly, a politician admitting their sexuality and then voted to represent their hole nation.. well done!
i mean i heard that the new prime minister is. like, newly elected. maybe it wasn't for england though. i dunno. i read it on aol somewhere.
this news made me so happy. i was talking about it today in a group discussion, and it made me optimistic about the future. its a hell of a world, but i just got a lil better!
