Ah, I see you beat me to it.

Man, it's strange. When I first went looking up this man, I still had some ingrained homophobia, so I was a tad put off by him.

And now, after seeing him as a model for self-expression and striving to be more like him, in that...

I'm still trying to process this. It's truly a sad day for all kinds of art.

I saw him in concert here in Montreal back in the eighties, the man was an enigmatic genius who wasn't afraid of change, hell, he symbolized what it means to be a chameleon in the modern age. He knew instinctively that all of life is a performance and that identity could be something to play with artistically.

It is amazing that he has continued his art right to the very end, making headlines just a few days ago with the release of his latest and very brilliant work.

I was saddened by the news as well. Hearing his music brings back memories of when I was still in denial and the speculation of what could have been had I made a different set of decisions when I was younger. Alas I cannot afford to indulge in such speculation and rewrite the past. Onward.

You can say that again. He defined Expressionism like no other.

''Look up here, I'm in heaven''... that bugger probably knew he had very little time left and Lazarus was his way of saying good bye to his fans. Even the way it was filmed feels like some departure explanation. It makes so much sense now, I feel almost trolled for realizing it after his parting.

He kicked the bucket the same day as Angus Scrimm, who is a big horror icon. I have a feeling this will be another bad year for celebrity deaths.

Lazarus will go to the top of the singles chart at least.

Because I have an awesome RE teacher, my RE lesson today was dedicated to him now that he's a starman waiting in the sky...

    Gotta check BBC 2 tonight...

    Good bye Jareth!

What a man, I think all men owe David Bowie a lot for really having the bravery to push the limits of masculinity - particularly as a heterosexual man as he later self-defined. He was obviously one of the first of the whole Glam Rock era, and one of the most recognisable certainly.

It's not just about makeup and zany clothes, I honestly think by stretching what was considered "extreme" of how men should act and dress he has also widened the range of what is considered "socially acceptable" as well - moving the boundaries. So in some ways modern movements like "metrosexuality" (which is really just a change in male expression) can likely be rooted back to him in a way.

This is so sad. I hope that he is at peace now. I also hope that his family gets the peace they need during this time.

It's very strange.. I was never one of his die hard fans, but I sure liked his music and how he wasn't constrained to one genre or type. Also he was my androgynous style idol, and the only man who could ever pull off a mullet. He will be missed.
