    I'm not so sure what's appalling about that. It's a three-way race without an instant runoff. Poaching the weakest candidate's defectors is an accepted and indeed vital part of the caucus.

    The caucus system itself could easily be criticised as being archaic, lacking a secret ballot, being unrepresentative and expensive, but what the Clinton campaign's doing isn't dirty tricks.

    Also, Buzzfeed isn't really the strongest source.

    It's kinda confusing as to why he stayed for so long. He never really had a chance at the nomination in the first place, so staying as long as he did would seem rather counterproductive.

    The longer he stays in, the more chances he has to get his name out there. It's not a strategy to win this year but in four or eight years

    The only way to tell if it worked or not would be in the future. Many successful candidates for president lost the nomination at some point in their career. O Malley is young enough that he can try again in 4 or 8 years.
