It doesn't matter if it's outing or not it's not ok to just use someone's photos without their permission.

This is pretty shitty, tbh. Buzzfeed could have at the very least went to the people shown in this article asking for their permission for their photos to be used.

Yeah, this all could have been avoided with asking permission to use photos beforehand.

Not saying they deserve it (can confirm being outed sucks), but you just can't risk posting any pictures online, there is zero chances of payback, unless you can afford it, and perhaps not even if they are really after you, and use the right tools to cover their arses

    Nope, just don't post them...

If this is true, I feel very bad for the person whose picture was leaked under the heading of "trans guy."

    Was it shitty? Yeah.

That said, it's time for a PSA of tough love:

If you're a trans guy and you are proud of your transformation: great! That said, be careful about taking shirtless selfies. Oftentimes breast removal surgery will create horizontal scars that are ubiquitous to transmen (who have top surgery). If you post shirtless pictures of yourself on social media and don't have privacy settings (in which case you are sort of giving tacit approval for strangers to ogle you) this sort of thing can happen to you. If you don't want to be out about your gender history, be careful about your shirtless selfies.
