I haven't followed all the details of this, but have heard of it.

Hopefully, it'll die before becoming law. The state Senate has recently been effectively Republican control, so this is no huge shock. We have plenty of problems here, but you can't be too busy to try and take those LGBT people's rights away!

Meanwhile, the House is Democrat controlled, and the governor is also a Democrat. So hopefully the idea will die long before becoming law.

Not sure about the whys and wherefores, but I've been wondering if one motive isn't the fact that the YMCA serving Tacoma--surely one the larger YMCA systems in the state--now allows people to use locker rooms that match their gender identities.

And the party that wants personal freedom. Unless, of course, the person happens to be LGBT.

Welp... Just another day in the "land of the free"

Because stuffing people where they don't belong is best for everyone, right?

Small government for them, huge government for the rest of us.

Something you always see with these bills is people going on about how they're about protecting people's privacy and I've always wanted to ask "why are you demanding a law that requires people to have their genitals inspected then?"

A sick law thought up by sick people.

Can the government stop obsessing over our genitals, seriously? I'm not sure any parent wants their kid to get publicly groped by someone before they can use the public restroom, trans or not. This has a gigantic lawsuit written all over it.

Not too worried. The ACLU will have a field day with it. It will be overturned so fast.......

Besides, can you imagine all the issues with someone telling an aggressive top Stone Butch or Diesel Dyke to drop their pants(ies)? They would probably end up on the ground nursing a black eye. LOL

So, wait, they're going to have somebody at every locker room, public restroom and shower who inspects everybody's crotch before they can go inside?

I'll happily apply for the job of being men's locker room genital checker at the gym. :roflmao:

(((HUGS!))) You would be perfectly entitled to be un ladylike if some stranger tried to get into your pants. I would hope you have a killer left hook so they would think about it twice before trying it again!

It's not ok to be trans but looking into a kids underpants is normal.
Trans kids are made to feel like freeks and pedofles are the police.

    A sick word!

I'm glad to know I'm not the official EC pervert... Change men's locker for women's, that would be me...

No, actually I couldn't stand such a job, I'd go insane, because they also would need to either undress or let me feel their... Eh... Damned you, Benway, you started this... :icon_redf

Back to the topic, shame... I get comments and stares on women's, and I'm not even on T, so if I ever go to the US, I'll have to pee on bushes all the time.

One more reason not to give control to Republicans, period. As soon as they get a majority in whatever chamber, they do things like this, even in a (relatively) liberal state like Washington. One thing I've never regretted is my stance against Republicans; they've done me no favors, in any way, from the air I breathe, to taxes, to civil rights.

And now they wanna look at my penis! If they do, I'll pee on 'em!

You may have all stumbled on a decent point about this bill, namely who is actually going to be doing the enforcing and how will they be screened during recruitment? Moreover, what gender will be guarding which bathroom?

The fact that this bill has that many holes in it leads me to believe is more about making a statement and having something to point at come election time for that hard line conservative vote.

Huh, a whole new occupation will be created, genital checker.

I can only imagine future conversations between kids and adults:

Father/Mother/Teacher: "So what do you wanna be when you grow up?"

Kid: "I wanna be a genital checker!"

Plus, there must easily be tens of thousands of public restrooms. I guess it'd be up to each business, but then, who pays for this? Tax dollars, or do the businesses have to pay? Then, you have all the public facilities.

The whole thing just gets more and more crazy sounding.

Would need multiple people guarding each restroom to make sure nobody sneaks in during breaks and inspections too. You'd also need to work out penalties for non compliance by businesses and need more staff to make sure businesses are complying. A lot of businesses may just say "sod this" and move out of state which would be another hit to the public finances.
