South Dakota Is The First State To Pass A Transphobic Student Bathroom Bill

Absolutely vile that kids are being targeted like this.

    And thus it begins.

In all seriousness, this will be bashed down when the lawsuits start coming in.

I'm sure South Dakota have more pressing matters than "oh no sir you can't pee in THAT toilet" that they should be attending to. I honestly feel like we're in a comedy movie.

I don't know, have you ever been to South Dakota? The whole Dakotas and Eastern Montana area is essentially a barren wasteland - and threatening queer people is a favorite pastime...

This legitimately makes me nervous, as a trans student not out to administration yet (not in SD, though)
Pity. South Dakota is so pretty, too.

    Welp. That happened. :frowning2:

In all seriousness, what's next? What's going to happen with the passing of this?
    I feel very concerned. :/

I'm worried about a bit of a domino effect here, If one state falls to this stupidity will the rest succumb to a similar fate?

But how are they going to seriously enforce this? ID checks? Groping? HOW are they going to figure out if the girl in that toilet stall has a penis or a vagina.
That's what I want to know.

Do all the homophobes join the republican party? Seriously? And when the first trans woman gets the crap beaten out of her for entering a men's toilet or the first trans man gets arrested for entering a woman's toilet...it'll be all their fault...For not being "normal" FFS!!

And then there's the ones who aren't trans but have characteristics of the other sex who will be attacked...

    Republicans. Ignorant cowards...

This bill is so unacceptable and cruel. I have never visited South Dakota and I dont want to bash another state as I am sure there are kind and decent people in South Dakota that think this bill is vile and full of hate. I know South Dakota is not a liberal place but there has to be some towns that are accepting and not hateful towards others.Does anyone know how conservative the governer is? I am hoping he vetoes this bill.
