Geez, you'd think this woman might be a little more concerned about all the violence her daughter sees every day in media, news, and the like. There's a much stronger correlation to harm from that than seeing two women kiss... but then these sort of bigots don't seem to let pesky facts get in the way of their ignorance.

If a seven year old doesn't like seeing people kiss, then simply get them to look away, but don't make it specific or a big deal about it. The kid is seven, he'll grow up eventually.

I mean, the mother could always have said "some people like to kiss the same sex as them, it's okay if you don't want to, but respect that others do" or something to that effect, he's at an age where learning is crucial and to be honest, it sounds like the mother is traumatized not the kid.

Okay, so I watched the video [after posting the above], it was a two second kiss, really nothing a seven year old should be ''traumatized'' over. He's probably seen people do that in every day life. It said nothing against someone's religion, because who knows, maybe one or both of those women were religious[?]. Okay, now I've gone into speculation mode, so I'll post and leave this here.

Man, it's gonna be a tough life if seeing a kiss on a TV commercial is sufficient to traumatize you.

I doubt the sincerity of this alleged complaint anyway but assuming that it is a mother with genuine concern then she should get some kind of help. I'd be concerned for that 7 year old boys welfare because only a crazy person could think what is written there. She is worried that Kellogg's goal is to desensitise the public when she should really be worried about the fact that they sell high sugar cereals aimed at her children and then 'healthy' cereal aimed at the resulting overweight adults.
If this was the most traumatic thing to happen to her child then I'd suggest that he's got it easy compared to a lot of other kids in this world.

Why should they even be noted?

Why should it matter whether it's a fleeting kiss, or a full on snog lasting a whole advert? It is a kiss, not hardcore pornography! My rule: would there be fuss if it were a straight couple? No? Then not an issue.

On the advert itself, it is nice, although maybe a bit hypocritical of Kellogs to be talking about body issues and standards when the Special K campaign for decades has been about fitting into skimpy swimsuits, no?

"What if we started focusing on things we can change and accepting the things we can't?" Well on that basis body fat is something that can be changed...pressures back on ladies! The campaign confuses me!

Well surely if she is homophobic and paranoid in the belief adverts could actually influence her son, the usual homophobic logic dictates it would be male same-sex adverts she would need to be concerned about, with lesbians "reinforcing" her son's inherent heterosexuality. That is how this stuff works, eh?

So true, if only those overweight adults turning to Special K just bought a simple bran cereal or oats instead, they'd save some pennies and probably lose weight much quicker. I am partial to Special K myself, although I see it as "dessert cereal".

Seems legit. Not someone trying to promote homophobia or anything.

I guess all the sex her 7 year old sees used to sell Whoppers is not traumatizing. Love, however, is. I feel very sorry for this kid................

I don't suppose she'd accept my advice of telling the kid (and the mother, for that matter) to grow up?

When I was a lad our parents got up in arms about protecting us from proper harmful things like Mortal Kombat, bullet firing guns in Gundam Wing and worst of all Spider-Man punching people with a closed fist.

A 2 second kiss is hardly enough to traumatize someone.

Looks like the mother just needed an excuse to spread her bigotry...

I understand wanting to protect your children from 'harmful' things, but there's much more harmful things to children than two women kissing. :eusa_doh:
Like the 'sex sells' philosophy. If I had a child I'd protect them from that as long as possible.

Come to the UK. It's even worse. One new ad has two men proposing. Truly sickening. God shall rain justice upon the heathens! Burn them at the stake!

this is sarcasm, if you couldn't tell. If you couldn't tell, that is because this is the internet.

Ok, now you've got me curious. What was the advert for? What was it called? I guess I could just look up "two men proposal advert UK outrage" but I'm lazy. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
