I remember when the whole "crack smoking mayor" scandal broke loose. He became a joke for the whole internet. I always felt kind of bad for him. Drug addiction is a serious condition. I didn't know he was battling cancer, and it's sad that he passed away. May he rest in peace.

I feel sorry for the family. At the same time I remember him as the mayor of the country's largest city, who would be conveniently "away at the cottage" during Pride Week events, which are a big deal in Toronto.

Hello. I live near Toronto and this was big news. This chemotherapy sessions were all over the news. When he passed away, I think every Canadian news channel covered his funeral. People expected him to pass away soon because near the end, he was placed in a home for people who can't take care of themselves. It was really sad, and I think this showed people that cancer is something to worry about. I hope that more people will take cancer (more) seriously.
