Bruce Springsteen cancels North Carolina show due to HB2 law | www.whio.com

“Just as important, the law also attacks the rights of LBGT citizens to sue when their human rights are violated in the workplace,” Springsteen said in a release. “No other group in North Carolinians face such a burden. To my mind, it’s an attempt by people who cannot stand the progress our country has made in recognizing the human rights of all our citizens to overturn progress.”

He cited many businesses and individuals that are against the bill.
He apologized to his fans for canceling his show, saying the fight against prejudice and bigotry is more important.

I didn't know he was still touring...

This is noble and all... But people did pay to see him perform, right? Unless they get a refund or tickets to his next show free of charge it kinda sucks for people who wanna paid see him.

    But that's cool.

Once the state loses enough income, maybe it'll happen like it did here in Georgia and they'll realize it was a quite horrendous idea from the very start.

This is a good start at least.

Saw this on CNN and Reuters - the people who bought tickets will get refunds.

This is the kind of pain that is worth enduring, like lancing a boil, the politicians need to see that there is a steep price to pay.

All of these conservative lawmakers in NC and other parts of the United States will find themselves on the wrong side of history, of that, I have no doubt. The world is changing and the tide is turning against these narrow minded ideas and attitudes.

I was listening to Nebraska today in honour of this.
It's a damn good album. I've only just noticed how lyrically simmilar some of the songs are though, reusing lines like 'radio relay towers won't you lead me to my baby' in at least two songs, johnny 99 and open all night, and how much hiss there is on the recordings, but it is technically a demo tape...

Good for him. I always loved his music. My favourite Springsteen song is streets of Philadelphia.

Not being a fan (particularly), I actually didn't realise Bruce Springsteen felt so strongly about LGBT rights. I think his statement was really passionate and I respect him for standing by what he believes in. Needless to say, most of us here feel passionate about it too! :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
