    There isn't a single redeeming portion of it... but progress is progress I guess? Ugh.

    Way too little, and way too late.

    This isn't going to bring back any lost business, or mend any fences.

    It's weird:NC, as a southern state, used to seem a bit more progressive than the rest...now, they seem to be leading the pack in backwardness, from high poverty levels, to laws like this.

    It's not enough.

    But on the bright side, this shows what people are doing is WORKING. As slow as the process is, they're starting to listen, starting to realize how bad they screwed up.

    I agree- I never thought very highly of my state, but I was happy that they at least seemed a little less bigoted (At the time)- this entire situation has DEFINITLEY assured I won't even think about attending college here or living in NC ever again after I finally get out.

    It's so incredibly cynical and such a transparent ruse.

    I don't think anyone who has boycotted or threatened to boycott is going to reverse what they're doing over this piddling little change. I heard his tapdance on NPR today and he showed no remorse or sense of apology. I honestly don't know why he even bothered. If anything, it's an insult.

    No business is going to come back from this, it's not going to undo the mental impact...

    It's obvious they don't care. If they did, they would've repealed the entire law.
    But they didn't.
    Even if they did, the backlash wouldn't just stop.
    And they deserve every bit of hate they get.

    It's an election year and McCrory and the GOP are in a tight race.

    Any other year and I reckon the bill gets vetoed or kicked into the long grass.

    North Carolina is not and never has been this bad. They were always the most liberal state in the south, and they arguable still are. Because Republicans got to draw their own districts after the 2010 elections, they think they're electorally invincible, and for the moment they are. Pat McCrory has defied every campaign promise he made in 2012. He said he wouldn't sign any abortion restrictions. He said he opposed discrimination of any kind. He said he was a moderate, but instead he's been a rubber stamp for an extremist legislature filled with extremists who think they're on a mission of god.

    McCrory is vulnerable this year, and the Democrats have nominated the most formidable opponent to him: three-term attorney general Roy Cooper. If Cooper wins (and he has a very good chance of beating McCrory), his coattails may arguably be enough to potentially put North Carolina into play in the presidential election. It's happened before: Barack Obama carried North Carolina in 2008, and almost won it again in 2012.

    Ugh, such scum. Fire him, take all his money and use it to repair some of the damage he's done, and let him stand trial, preferably resulting in a jail sentence. Scum like him have no right to be policymakers.

    Sadly true. A friend of mine in NC called a Democrat member of the state legislature who had supported this legislation and he hung up on her very rudely and abruptly.
