:roflmao: No, what it shows is that the voting population of Louisiana is so far to the right that the state legislature can't even pass a nondiscrimination act, so the governor is doing the only thing he can do: protect state workers. If in fact Louisiana were an "open, inclusive" force in today's economy, the state legislature would pass a nondiscrimination act, signaling to gender and sexual minorities in the state that they are welcome, and their neighbors want to protect them.

I wouldn't call the state itself "open and inclusive" at all, but good on Edwards, though! It's a relief to see positive news for a change, and hopefully it'll stay that way.

There's actually quite a bit of positive news if you know where to look for it. I feel like for every step backwards we also take one forward. I also feel like some steps are like backward and forward at the same time. Then it's just whoever's most pissed off that gets their way. But there's still also some good news, though.

Ohio is the same way. State workers who are LGBT have protections, but private workers do not.

Mhmm :frowning2: I'm not trying to say the South is uniquely bad. Montana is just the same... Governor Bullock issued an executive order protecting state employees on the basis of gender identity and sexual orientation. Private sector employees have no such protections, because that's the limit of Bullock's power: he cannot protect us from the evil majority.
