    Now he was a local born and raised true to his roots and talented artist. At least his name wasn't tarnished when he passed. Rest in peace.

    Though I'm not much of a fan of his music - except Purple Rain - it's still sad to hear.

    This year has been the worst for celebrity deaths and I could be forgiven for thinking there will be more.

    I learned of his passing when I saw that the Google logo/doodle went purple. I enjoyed his music in college, and it's sad to hear of his early passing.

    I never have liked seeing media fawn over celebrity deaths, since it trivializes the deaths of all the nameless souls out there we should feel just as sad about passing.


    But damn, this was hands down the most talented contemporary musician alive. This is the death of a Mozart. So, I can't help it, rest in peace.
