    Good old Mexico.

The Iguala story is one of the most horrific to come out of the world of Mexican police corruption. Things like this are reasons why I sometimes fear for my relatives who live there and am sometimes wary about visiting myself. You do not want to be on the bad side of the police in Mexico. It might just be a death sentence.

Was born there, lived there for a few years, still have lots of family there...and still not interested in spending any significant amount of time there. Scary place and I've seen my own share of violence, it's endemic.

(oh, and maybe getting typhoid and hepatitis while living in Puebla when I was 12 y.o. has something to do with it too)

I love the country and people of Mexico. But the corruption is horrific.

Yes, indeed, there are beautiful places, the food is awesome, the vast majority of Mexicans are proud of who they are, warm, hard-working and honest. The culture is rich, colourful and deep. And yes, it's sadly true also that the corruption is unimaginable to someone who has never experienced it.

Got friends there, and they are the sweetest people you can imagine, they don't deserve the mess they are forced to live with.

There are many interests on keeping the country like it is now. Think it's time to take a look at that. I agree they have their troubles, but I don't think it's all to blame on the local corruption.
