Previous House Speaker Dennis Hastert was sentenced to 15 months in prison April 27, after being testified against by the brother of an ex-GOP lawmaker who accused Hastert of sexual abuse. “As a high-school wrestler, I looked up to Coach Hastert,” accuser Scott Cross said. “I trusted him, I believed him and took him at his word.”

Last year, the Speaker pleaded guilty to evading federal reporting statues on cash withdrawals and hiding history of sexual misconduct as a teacher before his election in 1987. From 2010-2014, Hastert paid $1.7 million, but still fell short of his 2010 promise to pay back $3.5 million in fines.
