If it was a big shiny ticking briefcase I'd somewhat understand, better safe than sorry, have it checked.. but math? ...They're scared of math now? I guess it's at the point where if I drew my characters on a plane, they'd think I was a mad scientist or something. :eusa_doh:

Careful is good, this is way past careful.

I feel bad for our American education system. Not saying I'm smart, but if I see dy/dx on his papers and lots of numbers I would tell the lady: what do you think he's doing, trying to figure out when to push the damn button?"

Actually, I would take him the back of the plane, share a few drinks and return him to his seat and just thank the lady.

What did the note say I wonder? "The man next to me has forgotten to add a constant when he integrated, better warn the captain!"

Thar be weapons of math instructions afoot :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I don't know whether to laugh or cry at this information. Sadly, this is the state of the American education system. I'm just befuddled of how differential equations (what he was working on) can be confused for a terrorist action.

LOL. I'd think that's too suspicious and border-paranoia, but that's just me.

    Genius.
    Absolutely genius.

I wonder what she'd think if she saw someone coding something on a plane? That they're from anonymous and hacking the white house?

Idiocracy was not intended to be a historical documentary.

Well, apparently this lady never saw what maths looked like. Too bad for her :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I see how it could be racism...but frankly, I think it's just stupidity and paranoia. :/

Like, it's so bad it's a level where a face palm won't even do it justice.

I am a very nervous flyer - - - I probably look like a crazy person. I also am paranoid when I'm anxious, soooo I might make a mountain out of a mole hill. But even then, I am effing smart enough to understand a MATH equation.

Besides, this isn't James Bond! What is he going to do? Use exploding ink?

Agreed. And he didn't seem to be upset by the situation. I bet he was pretty amused. I would grin like hell if I was mistaken for a terrorist.
