This can be applied to his entire party, for some reason oppressing others is far more important than actually doing anything practical. Their selling points aren't "We'll install solar panels into interstate highways, creating clean and renewable energy available to all.", instead they focus on "We'll make sure you can kick that gay dude out of a public business, then his job, and lastly his home! Don't worry, we'll get them executed eventually. Pro life!" So it's no shock to me that they're doing it to others too.

Is there no depths of childishness that Trump won't stoop to?

While I'm here, is it just me our does the Don seem to think that because he's running for office everyone is required to blow smoke up his backside no matter how stupid he gets?

In fairness to Clinton, she's only slightly to Obama's right, and she's just as libertarian as he is overall. So if you supported Obama last election cycle, you shouldn't think Clinton is the end of the world as we know it.

I still think the Democrats are disappointing, and I really think America needs a left turn...

Hillary is somewhere within the realms of European politics whereas Trump and most of the rest the Republican Party are off the charts. The UK's parliament discussed banning Trump from ever entering the UK due to his hate speech; of course Hillary is going to be preferable.

Hillary's about centre right by British standards (I jest ye not) and Bernie I'd put around about centre left but very much leaning toward the left.

Trump and Cruz are off over where the BNP and English Democrats reside. Even the vast majority of "moderate" Republicans would be with UKIP over here.

Actually, Bernie is considerably to the left... Of most of the country, really.

A lot of what Bernie proposes already exists in the UK to varying degrees, so his ideas wouldn't be deemed radical or unaffordable here. Ted Cruz and Donald Trump on the other hand, would be absolutely unattainable as party leaders here. The closest we've had to either is Nick Griffin and his party (the BNP) has all but vanished because it was in a state pf perpetual disarray and and scandal. I don't think they stood in any constituency in the UK last year. UKIP have replaced them as a 'moderate' nationalist party who actually support legalising weed and increasing funding for the almost wholly state-funded National Health Service. I think they're loons, but not dangerous in the sense that the Republicans under Donald Trump are (and more importantly, they are nowhere near a position of actual power, having only one representative in the House of Commons).

Americans politics is, and probably always has, been to the right of British politics. British politics in turn is probably a bit to the right of, say, Dutch and Scandinavian politics but probably similar to German politics.

That's all fine. I don't fault them one bit for keeping a safe distance from the Republicans. But Hillary is just as much a part of the problem over here, just another head of the Hydra. The fact that he (to my knowledge) hasn't mentioned Bernie is worrisome because it means the establishment pressure against him is at least partially working.
