In another episode of why I can never vote GOP in my life...

And with some more absurdity from the state platform...

I love how they want to repeal direct election of US Senators but then go onto complain about "unelected bureaucrats".

Where was this whenever GOP Presidents threw around EOs all willy-nilly?

But an Article V convention IS a constitutional convention that technically rewrites the constituion by adding an amendment.

Taking MLK out of context to benefit white narratives? Check.

Climate change denial as per usual, but getting rid of the Endangered Species Act? Wow.

    Welp...

That part where they quoted MLK earlier? They just want to use him to help white narratives and will work against any pro-minority legislation he helped pass.

Remember that, they support ex-gay therapy...

    Science denial.

Ugh... this platform is all over the place on so many issues. They even brought up the Agenda 21 conspiracy.

    "Eliminate executive orders".

Fun fact guys: Obama has made less executive orders per year than any president in the past 70 year.

Executive orders are necessary for the Executive Branch of government to carry out law. It's not unconstitutional.

Thank God I don't live in Texas. But seriously, if you're on this forum and you live in Texas, then best of luck to you.

Thanks. I'm trying to save up and move out of state as a matter of fact. It's terrible here.

This would be the 1st Amendment that says "congress shall make no laws respecting the establishment of religion"?

Unless those consciences, beliefs and principles are non Christian...

    FTFY

The same legal entitlements and special status granted to religious people I might add.

Oh good, we can outlaw the teaching of creationism in schools then because it's not science.

    > Bleat about protecting kids when passing bathroom bills
    > Are pro torturing kids if it's in the pursuit of changing a sexual orientation

In Britain this would be the kind of manifesto you'd see from the fringes of the extreme right fringe. In America it's the manifesto of the mainstream right wing party.

I was going to start copying and pasting all the lines in that that drove me especially crazy, but it would have been far too long.

I get that people have their beliefs, I get it. But when a government body can vote against undeniable scientific facts, it's a problem.
Climate change is an "agenda" and homosexuality is a "chosen lifestyle" gosh I thought at least governmentally, we were getting past all that.
    Ridiculous.

I don't know much about how all this works, but what kind of influence may these votes have?

    "Chosen lifestyle" HA!

I'll put it in the words of my only supporting great grandmother, "I know you're gay baby, and if anyone says you chose this look them in the eye and tell them 'Why in hell's bells would I /choose/ to be gay and hated because of it?' "

Literally, if my great grandma can understand this shit, why can't these goddamn politians who are several decades younger than her get it through their damn heads. This stuff really irks me.

I really want to walk up to one of these people and ask when and how they came to the decision to be straight.

Honestly, the thing that pisses me off the most is how they want to repeal the 17th amendment. These fuckers think that "we the people" are too fucking stupid to elect our own damn fucking senators.

How any LGBT person with even half a functioning brain could vote for a Republican has always been beyond me. It's like blacks for the KKK, or something.

Well, if people didn't vote Democrat maybe they could be trusted with their vote. [/Texas GOP]
