LGBT News Hookup app privacy settings can be dangerously deceiving - Wired Magazine

    A few days ago, Wired Magazine ran an article showing how the location of a "hookup app" user can be determined even if they set their location to "private". I'm not going to mention any specific app because it's against terms of service here, but this information could be very important, especially to people in countries where gays are targeted for violence or execution by the government or terror groups. Just because the app is set to private doesn't mean they can't be located.

    The actual story is interesting from a tech pov but the end result is more important to the population at large than the geek subcommunity, hence I'm posting it in this section.

    Then don't use the app and work on social injustice in their countries.

    Or move to a more accepting country and learn the language and customs there.
