Full story here: German Parliament Votes To Recognize Mass Killing Of Armenians As Genocide : The Two-Way : NPR

As someone who has quite a few Armenian-American friends both in college and online, I'm glad to see that this has been done and that the mass murder of the Armenian people over a century ago is finally being recognized by a world power. There are ~27 nations that officially recognize the Armenian Genocide:

    Germany (as of today)
    Argentina
    Austria
    Belgium
    Bolivia
    Brasil
    Bulgaria
    Canada
    Chile
    Cyprus
    France
    Greece
    Italy
    Lebanon
    Lithuania
    Luxembourg
    Netherlands
    Paraguay
    Poland
    Russia
    Slovakia
    Sweden
    Switzerland
United States (Apparently only 45 states do)
    Uruguay
    Vatican City
    Venezuela

Doesn't Germany also have a lot of unskilled Turkish workers that are considered second class people?

I'm sure there are more than enough people in Germany that aren't treated as they should be, including Syrian and Iraqi refugees and Turkish people. One can recognize this as a good move and then also fight for people who do not have a proper place in the country, as those acts are not mutually exclusive. Not to say that is what you were implying by all means.

I guess my point is that at one point or another Germany "screwed" both parties of the Armenin Genocide.

Ah, I see. Yeah, I know that Germany back in the day helped the Ottoman Empire with their plans to "purify" their empire via the genocide, and I figured that after the fall of the Empire that ethnic Turks outside of Turkey would not be treated as well post-WWII and beyond.
