    I hope it works. I've a friend who contracted HIV after a rape, it would relieve me immensely if she would no longer have to deal with it.

    That sounds promising, I really hope it doesn't fall through for the sake of everyone with that horrible disease.

    Yikes.

    I trust this has been well thought through, but my concern is that CMV, which is harmless to healthy people, can be a really big deal -- life threatening -- in an immunocompromised person, such as someone with AIDS or someone who has had an organ transplant.

    I'm hopeful this would work, but as described, you wouldn't get me anywhere near a study where I'm voluntarily hart injected with CMV.

    If everything pans out, though, maybe we could eventually get "herd immunity" from the vaccine if only a certain percentage of people get vaccinated. That way those who can't receive the vaccine would be protected by the community. Maybe if a strong campaign tries to vaccinate many men who have sex with men, we could put a huge dent in the virus.

    Of course, pie in the sky.

    I really, really hope this one is able to get a fair shot for being tested. I know in many places there are fundamentalists who will hold back any scientific progress that could possibly help a LGBT person, even if it helps countless others too. Don't know if Oregon is one of those states.

    These are only the first tests though, it takes many years for any medicine to be approved.

    it must be the nth/20tg time such thing happens? They even cured the variant in chimps once yet without success when they tried the same procedure in humans. I want to be optimistic though.

    Do they have any research showing how it may work? Sounds interesting but the article isn't exactly clear on the mechanism.
