Jo Cox MP dead after shooting attack - BBC News

Even on an international forum, I think this event deserves its own thread. I can't get my head around this.

This awful event definitely deserves its own thread. I found out about the shooting and stabbing right as it came up as breaking news. Then I discovered that the poor woman had died. My thoughts go to her family, especially her two young children.

2016 has been a horrifying year.

Very sad. An MP for only a year with a bright future. Was respected and admired by colleagues across the political divide.

That is truly tragic and an affront to a democratic government.

It's surprising to hear shootings from outside of the US, I don't understand why so many people resort to violence.. especially when there's so many better ways to handle things, like talking to them as a civilized fucking being.

This is absolutely terrible, she seemed like a great politician, and could have even been the labour leader at one point in the future. Her work, not only for her constituents, but also for other, less fortunate people, such as Syrian refugees, was brilliant.
One of the few commendable politicians left.
