Fireworks Set Off in Phoenix Walmart, Some Mistake It for Gunfire - ABC News

Three teens lit the fireworks display at a Wal Mart in Phoenix, Arizona last week. Nobody was injured, but the store remains closed. The three suspects remain at large. As dangerous as this was, it couldn't have happened to a more deserving retailer. Here's the video from a shopper who was in the right place at the right time:

This is exactly why age restrictions exist...and how on earth did they manage to possess fireworks?

I think they lit the ones being sold in the store.

Are teenagers just getting progressively dumber? When I was fifteen I didn't even look at a firecracker the wrong way, let alone play with matches around it. I knew to fear and respect fireworks.

And things like this is why a decent amount of adults hate most teenagers. It's good that nobody was hurt at least.

Nope, I don't think I've ever seen fireworks locked up but I'm also not that into them so I don't pay attention to the displays.

Video-games are a billion dollar industry, it costs a lot to mass produce physical copies of games and because they're in such high demand they need to keep them locked away from the fingers of skilled thieves and pirates who'd spread them for free online, ruining the industry.

Fireworks are a, like, twice a year thing (in America, at least, I don't keep track of firework sales outside the US) and I think they operate on the honor system thinking "nobody'd be stupid enough to light a whole rack of these on fire... right?" kind of attitude that is clearly misguided in this case.

You know, at first glance I figured this would be a heartwarming story about a small friend group buying some fireworks and doing a show by the parking lot against all the recent homophobia or so, I really overestimate humans sometimes.

    That said, Mhurica.

I'm honestly waiting for somebody to put the footage of the fireworks going off in the store to the 1812 overture or yakkity sax or something along those lines..

I'm sure at least one person out there has said that "they don't know any better, they're just kids".

Seriously, society is failing me horribly.

I was thinking what Kira was thinking. Then I realized that they lit the fireworks while they were still in the store. Such genius and artistry! (sarcasm)

It's like we as humankind are going progressively backwards with fire. A few weeks ago, a guy tried pouring his 5 gallon gas can on an open flame as he was trying to get a fire started. He wound up with third-degree burns over 90% of his body.

There's a way to safely light a fire with gasoline: pour the gas over whatever it is you want to burn, unroll about three feet of toilet paper with one end in the fire pit, light the other end and get away. It'll take a few minutes to burn through all the toilet paper, but it gives you plenty of time to get away from the fire and to a safe distance. Yeesh.

Aaaaaaaaaand this is why people think today's teenagers are dumb.

Stealing this idea. I already have the 1812 Overture in my music collection; now I can't resist.

Done. I'd post the link but I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed to do that, since it's on my personal YouTube account.
