Well, it seems like the UK is in shambles, I don't know whats exactly going on, but my god it seems like a huge mess, the pound dropped instead of rising, the prime minister has backed down from office, um???

I'm more worried about the impact this has on the EU. I kind of now hope that Scotland leaves the UK and joins the EU.

I am aware, it's just that the other thread was more focused on what way people were going to vote and such. I know that the discussion on that thread has moved to what people think about the vote, but I wanted to make a new thread just focusing on the fact that the leave team has won and what people think about this.

    Because why not?

I'm moving to Scotland, Wales or Ireland if they leave England and join the EU.

Well I wanted us to stay but there will be no major difference. As to the economy the dead cat bounce effect will happen soon and the sterling will be OK.

Have fun with that, theyll have to take the euro and the way oil prices are looking I don't think Scotland will do very well on its own. Wales voted leave overall too so they won't leave us.

I'm surprised for the UK, but then it seems that most places with a barrier of some sort - Hadrian's Wall or the ocean - between it and Britain favoured Remain.

Well, Jersey has come out of it fine. Apparently doesn't make a huge difference to us; the weaker pound actually brings in more tourists for us!
One English MP even suggested that Jersey go as far as to become a sovereign state if it wanted a better deal with the EU... but, as Brexit showed, anything's possible.

It's wait and see now, I guess.

I voted remain, leaving was a bad idea to say the least. Somebody better have a good fucking plan now, that's all I'll say.

Seems like another Scottish referendum is likely, but that was obvious since they voted to stay in the UK on the basis of it staying in the EU so they wouldn't have to 'sign up' again.

I'm not an expert on the UK, but are you guys fucked now because of how the voting turned out? I heard the value of the pound is dropping pretty hard now.

It's not looking good right now from an economic point of view especially, but the long term future is fairly unclear at this point. Most experts in economics advised against leaving though.

They have to carry out 'article 50' and it will take a couple of years to properly leave, and a lot will depend on what they negotiate with Europe.

This is a view from across the pond from someone who reads the news, but doesn't understand all the issues, because they aren't mine.

Looking at the US revolution and the focus on independence from a far away government that people didn't feel represented them, I think it is both hilariously ironic and also embarrassingly hypocritical that Obama urged the UK to stay for the greater good of the EU.

My family are upset and angry. My grandma in England was just in the process of selling her house. Now she's gonna struggle to get a decent place...
