Basically, these laws made it so hard to run an abortion clinic that many end up shutting down. The goals of the laws were not to protect "women's health", they were to make it so hard to get an abortion that they become almost illegal. Glad the Supreme Court came to their senses in this case. These laws were extremely unnecessary and ridiculous.

This should have happened sooner, but at least it's finally here. Now for the rest of the less intellectually gifted states, onward!

So now if someone uses a public swimming pool in Texas they don't have to worry about being forced to have children at age 12! At least I'd hope anyway.

Oh lordy, glad Kennedy was on the right side of this issue. I think Kennedy was miffed that his earlier decisions that gave great deference to states to decide what was best for a women's health was purposefully misinterpreted by state Republicans who took it and ran with it and violated the spirit of Planned Parenthood v. Casey by doing farcical things under the aegis of the Supreme Court (and Kennedy), which had granted states latitude to act in the name of women's health.

Kennedy gave too much rope to the states, and some states hanged themselves.

    You're drinking right-wing tears? I'll take a swig.

In all seriousness, this bill was horribly misguided. Another bill in the guise of benefiting the "health of women".

    Just so we can review:

Women's health is important when => The real purpose is to restrict abortion rights.
Harrassment and sexual assault is a huge problem when => The real purpose is to criminalize trans people in bathrooms.

I'll take it with some Cookies!

Yes. Because heaven we can't forbid people to do something we don't agree with. Even if it kills the people in question or makes their life much harder.

Glad that terrible bill is gone.

Anybody who knows me on here knows I'm more right wing than probably anybody else on here, but when it comes to the matter of abortion I am as pro-choice as they come. This is excellent news.

Good news. I don't buy that a fertilized embryo deserves the same rights that a person who is alive and has loved ones and hopes and dreams.
The right wingers should be more ashamed of all the people who die in war.

It really cracks me up that they thought they could actually ban abortion. And just by banning it isn't going to stop it. I'm glad the Supreme Court turned them down. Keep abortion safe and legal.
