Geez...the US needs to take a good look at what other countries are doing, and follow suit.

It really is sad that we are so behind the times with it.

I am not surprised that Japan did this. In most of Asian history there has been no prejudice on whom a person loved, be it male or female, in fact of of Asia's most noteable figures had same-sex relationships. It did not become socially unacceptable until the Christians arrived and spread the word of their God and saviour and the 'morals' and 'ethics' that they stood for, and then the later Muslim influences, after the revolt against Christians, reinforced that social unacceptance. It is good that Asia is finally starting to revert back to its original beliefs and practices.

Well to be fair, Japan and China never really had much Christian and Islamic influences. Only a small percentage of South Japan is actually Christian. But yea, I agree that things changed a bit when they westernized.

Hopefully Japan, in a few years, can legalize it. They've always been with the times.

I'm surprised. LGBT rights haven't really been in the highlight of Japan's political agenda. This is great news though.
