A policeman gone rogue can very well be a jihadist.

Yeah, but 'lone turkish gunman' is not the same as 'jihadist cop', wording matters...

Funny thing, the claims of failed security, while Turkey seems to be very good at putting in jail so many journalists and members of political parties...

In this case, it is a lone Turkish gunman who is a policeman and who happened to pledge himself to jihad (which doesn't need to be organised) at the time of the assassination. I thought that was perfectly appropriate wording, because all of those descriptions are accurate and mutually inclusive.

And yeah, given Turkey is seeking a rapprochement with Russia, if there was an unacceptable level of negligence involved, this might end up embarrassing the Turkish government a lot.

The word 'lone gunman' does not convey the same amount of information as 'turkish policeman'. There has been an armed assault, therefore the word 'gunman' can be left out. 'Lone' doesn't say as much as 'policeman'. A 'lone gunman' could have been russian, turkish... Could have been an employee of the place.

Well, they say the wording and quality of tnyt used to be better anyways... I don't remember when, but it used to be, or so they say... Not starting here a discussion about the quality of tnyt nowadays, or twp, haha...

We could call it negligence, or we could call it murder, depending on the circumstances... For instance, if the government was aware of the activities and contacts of the policeman who shot the russian ambassador. A policeman who has been trusted such a responsibility should have been expected to be under direct surveillance, to prevent such a thing, specially if the policeman had ties (family ties or of any other nature) to potential terrorists.

I thought policeman were subject to special background checks pretty much everywhere... But hey, what do I know, right...
