    From the article:

    Wow, I guess the "Don't ask don't tell" we had to work around was reasonable by comparison.

    This is the best part of the article. :slight_smile:

    its bittersweet, but yea, this is definitely the most touching part of the story: :lol:

    Work on a book is already under way at the museum, where the letters will also go on display.

    Perhaps most poignantly, one of the letters contains the lines:

    "Wouldn't it be wonderful if all our letters could be published in the future in a more enlightened time. Then all the world could see how in love we are."

    The story is kind of lost on me after reading the following;

    That cheapened the 'love' to me, and then they went their separate ways. The gushy letters sound nice but it just rings a bit hollow I'm afraid.

    I love this. Stories like this always get me.

    Letters from clandestine romances like this are such a valuable part of our rainbow history as gay people. I can't wait for the book. <3

    Understandable view.

    But...this outcome is also one that one would see happen with any number of straight relationships.

    Even though the relationship these men had ended like it did, I'd guess those letters have huge historic value. It's not a case of a bunch of letters from an ideal relationship vs these letters. It's a case of these letters vs probably absolutely no other letters from that time and place.

    Before I saw your reply, I was thinking something similar, but not sure the right way to put it. You did a great job, thanks. :slight_smile:

    I'd buy the book to be honest. It seems like an amazing idea to show that they were even back then same as everyone else.
