    Just reported on CNN:

Governor Paterson plans on introducing a same-sex marriage bill to the NY congress on Thursday. The senate majority leader said that they don't have enough votes to pass it right now, but they are working on it and are "hopeful".

I saw that on Washington Blade's website earlier today. I have always wanted to marry in NYC, an hour from my home, this would be great.

Hmmm, I'm pretty nervous about them not having enough votes to pass it. It would be quite a setback if this was to happen and it got struck down. >.<

New York governor to propose legalizing same-sex marriage

They tried it in 2007, and it failed in the senate.

It should pass the Assembly easily, and needs 32 votes to pass the Senate. The Senate is split 32 Democrats to 30 Republicans, so every D would have to vote in favor for it to pass.

No matter what, just the fact this bill is being raised is a HUGE step forwards!

    ITS HAPPENING GUYS!

The states are starting to fall in the wake of prop 8. I think prop 8 failing is the BEST thing to happen to gay rights in a long time!

IM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!! NYC would be my DREAM wedding for sure, and maybe some day i can actually do that too.

Granted this is not as big of a step since NYC already views gay marriages from other places as valid (something that strikes me as odd, whats the difference between thaat and being able to marry inside NYC? anyways...)

What state will be next? Im sure another one will pop up quite soon. Man, they are going FAST

You obviously don't understand what he's trying to say. or you do, and you just don't care. He's saying, after supposedly one of the most liberal states in the country passed Proposition 8, other states, almost in retaliation to that move legalized it in hopes that it would be turned around. its quite a simple concept really.

In my defense, they made an add about how damn confusing it is >>

im quite sure im not the only one who got the "no on 8 = yes for gay marriage, yes on 8 = no for gay marriage" wrong xD

every state that bring this to vote, regardless of the outcome of that vote, gives us more oppertunity to show that we arent any different from heterosexual people. We are turning the moderates to us, and already have the liberals on our side. We are slowly eroding the vulger grip the fundementalist evengelicals had roughly taken over american politics. We are turning america back to a centerist country.

It is little steps towards a great goal.
