LGBT News Gay men possibly go missing

Considering the oppressive situation there (oppressive as in pretty much all talk or expression of anything gay is suppressed, ridiculed, and outlawed), I don't think there's ever going to be an "official fact check" from any government. As they said, the officials don't consider gay people to exist in Russia, so even if they did announce the detainment or execution/death of the men they would list other reasons for why they were detained or killed. So I don't think we're ever going to get exact numbers or details about what happened.

I hope our lgbt sisters and brothers stay safe over there, this is bad bad news.

 

I keep hearing rumors that gay people are being rounded up for the slaughter, which I hope isn't true. If anyone is from Russia, please be careful and stay safe. You always have us if you need support. <3

 

I can't even imagine what living there would be like. How did they become so violently anti-gay???!! It's so insane and based on nothing but lies. I feel terrible for LGBT people there and wish they all could escape to a safer place.

 

A few news outlets are saying that Chechnya just opened a concentration camp for homosexuals. Hey UN, where are you?

 

The government needs a pawn to distract the population and prevent them from protesting. Gay people are an easy target because they are a minority and people don't really understand them. Repeat a lie enough time and you'll believe it.

Then, if someone opposes that, beat them or accuse them of ''gay propaganda''. This is a truly sad world. I would advise any LGBT Russian to get out of there before it gets worse. Who knows what this will lead to?

 

I think some people are slightly confused, gay Russian men aren't really at risk to this as Chechnya is a republic with a separate government to Russia. It's sad so many Muslim countries have this horrific attitude to the lgbt community.

 

They still get beaten in the the streets. Russia is far from kind to LGBT people. They need to get out before it gets worse.

Oh I know that, but the Russian government doesn't actually prosecute against it.

 

This is horrible. Everybody please be safe.

 

It felt like things were moving in the right direction with a steady pace for a while, but lately it seems all that has been spiraling down the drain.

I don't understand the sudden uprise in hatred and ignorance, but I hope this isn't how it ends. Things might look grim but we can still recover, right?

That being said, I am once again disgusted with the actions of humanity. How so many empty-skulled individuals remain in power is beyond me...
